There is no single method or solution to providing the environment and
support needed to enable people to 'age in place'. We know that for people
to remain comfortable and secure as they get older, without the need to
move, there are a range of needs that must be met. Not only physical,
but social, environmental, and emotional needs, too.
Rosaire Gardens and Rosaire Court are the result of a unique partnership
and commitment to collaborative working with The States Health and Social
Services and Housing Departments, Housing 21, and Rosaire Sheltered Housing
Limited to develop accommodation and support that meet these range of
needs.
Each partner brings its own specialised expertise to the development of
accommodation, support services and care services to enable older people
in Guernsey to live independently in their home for as long as possible.
Housing 21's role: One of England's top three
specialist social housing landlords creating housing, support and care
for older people. Have expertise and track record in the delivery of care
and support services for older people, currently delivering over 29,000
care hours per week. Housing 21 has also developed, built and currently
manages over 14,000 sheltered and extra care housing flats for older people.
The States: The Housing Department and the
Health and Social Services Department have jointly identified the need
to provide older people in Guernsey with alternative housing, care and
support options that will enable them to retain independence for as long
as possible and avoid moving on into residential care. The two departments
will work in ongoing partnership with Housing 21.
Rosaire Sheltered Housing Limited: Bring expertise
and private sector ethos to the scheme. Working with architects and other
partners on the project are responsible for delivering to Housing 21 a
sustainable built community that will provide the opportunity for older
people in Guernsey to live independently and exercise choice in how they
live.
